FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQs

What can I expect in my first physiotherapy consultation?

We spend most of your first consult unpacking your mind and body concerns. We’ll chat about diet, exercise, and our favourite elixir - BREATHING. We’ll also do an in-depth analysis of any problem areas that might need our attention.

If it’s comfortable for you and appropriate for your condition, we may do a hands-on assessment which can sometimes mean our first internal exam together, with your full consent. Don’t stress - we’ll take it super slow and stay at your pace.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Your treatment will not be limited by what you wear to your appointment. However, it is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing which allows you to move freely, and provides easy access to examine and assess any problem areas.

Which conditions can you help with?

We specialise in women’s and pelvic health here at Breathe. For a full list of the conditions we can help with have a read here.

Do you have HICAPS facilities?

Yes. Our HICAPS terminal allows for on-the-spot payment processing for health fund claims and Medicare Easyclaims.

Can I visit Breathe Health under a Chronic Disease Management Plan?

Yes, we accept referrals for Chronic Disease Management from your GP, under a Team Care Arrangement (TCA). This arrangement allows doctors to approve up to five Medicare-subsidised Physiotherapy services per year, with a current rebate of approximately $53 per service.

Should I still attend my appointment if I have my period?

Yes, you can come even if you are on your period.

Will I have to have an internal pelvic examination?

If you have a gynaecological or pelvic floor condition, it may be recommended as part of your treatment to have an internal examination. However, this will only be performed with your informed consent. You will always be given an option to decline this and have alternative means of assessment.
